Parental Guidance and Divorce Care for Children

During a divorce children can experience this stressful period as confusing, they can feel shocked and angry. Sometimes children can blame themselves for their parents separation.

At the same time the parents are grieving the loss of their relationship and can be fearful of their future.

There are a number of supportive measures a mediator can implement to assist parents and children cope during this difficult transition period.

Presenter Minke Saayman is a clinical social worker in private practice in Roodepoort, with a keen interest in working with children and families.  The framework in which she works includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Attachment Therapy.  She completed her Master’s Degree (Cum Laude) in Clinical Social Work at the University of Johannesburg.  She presents various workshops to health care professionals, teachers and parents.
