About the event

What are a mediator’s obligations when abuse, domestic violence or sexual violence arises during family mediation?

SAAM will be hosting a comprehensive 3-hour webinar on Friday, 18 September, examining the legal and practical responsibilities that may arise when mediators encounter abuse, domestic violence or sexual violence during the family mediation process.

The webinar will begin with an overview of what constitutes domestic violence and a domestic relationship for purposes of the Domestic Violence Act, before considering the importance of identifying risk and responding appropriately.

The session will outline reporting obligations and other relevant principles under:

• The Domestic Violence Act

• The Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act
