Road Accident Fund
Requirements
In response to the Gauteng High Court Directive on civil matters, including family matters, but with the focus on RAF (Road Accident Fund) matters, SAAM is pleased to announce a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing our role as a Recognised Mediation Organisation (RMO).
In addition to our Family Mediator Panel, we will be launching a dedicated RAF Mediator Panel This will cater both to mediators already accredited in family mediation who wish to add RAF accreditation, and to practitioners seeking RAF-only accreditation.

What SAAM Will Do:

-
Publish RAF & Family Mediator Panels
SAAM will display public lists of accredited RAF and family mediators on our website. -
Maintain Mediator Data
The panels will be updated regularly to reflect current qualifications, specialisations, and contact information as required in terms of the High Court Directive. -
Quarterly Statistical Reporting
We will collect and submit required statistical data—using Annexure C formats—to the courts every three months.

Requirements

-
Accreditation Steps: Complete your RAF accreditation, including training and submission of required documentation to SAAM (proof of relevant training, supervised mediation, membership fees, affidavit, etc.).
-
Ongoing Compliance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date mediator information in your SAAM profile. Also submit statistical data after each RAF mediation using SAAM’s Mediator’s Statistical Report Form.
-
Procedure Adherence: Follow the processes outlined in the High Court Directive and Mediation Protocol, including Rule 41A notices, Mediator’s Report (Annexure D to the Protocol), and reporting protocols.
